Crafting is the act of creating an item from other items. In some cases, you can break an item down into other parts (such as turning a Television into 6 Scrap Metal if you also own a Pair of Pliers), but most cases take materials and create a usable item of some sort from them.
To craft in general, you usually need to inside a building in usable condition, with the power to the suburb on, and the lights on in the building. To craft a specific item, you need sufficient Action Points and the required materials in inventory or containers. Currently, multiple items of the same material cannot be split between container and inventory, but must be in one or the other. Some items require Craftsmanship to craft. Some items require you to be a specific "race" (Human, Vampire, or Zombie). Some items require you to be in a specific type of building.
