Kraufen's Guide to Human Survival

From All Out Hell Wiki

Femlak's Guide to Human Survival in All Out Hell

Alright - so you want to play human.

Here is a quick rundown of the overall strengths and weaknesses of the class

Pros: The highest AP cap in the game at 80. Very versatile skills - capable of crafting better items, capable of healing one another. Can secure buildings to make them “safe” With rooftop run can move from inside one building to the next High consistent damage if using certain weapons and have maxed skills in said weapon type The ability to hide (other races have this to which works differently for each) Ability to make special weapons that do certain damage types that other classes cannot make. Fairly consistent accuracy when using their weapons unless the lights are out.

Cons: Everything costs AP, meaning you have to search for all the items that you use (except blunt and bladed weapons) . The skills you have are generally need items to functions. (Gun skills for example require you to have guns - and search for ammo - lab studies requires an injector and for you to search for revival serum) Healing requires you to search for healing items Spend a lot of AP barricading - in order to keep buildings safe. There is a downside to that in of itself Lowest HP cap in the game The need to repair buildings in order to rooftop run in them Lights need to be on to improve accuracy and search rates.

Alright - so you still want to be a human. The first thing you'll have is some choices you'll need to make. First off is your “job” so to speak. It's really just the starting skill you will get at the beginning. I will list them from best to worst to start with in my opinion, but know that some aren't much better than others.

  1. Vagrant - in my opinion the best choice option. You start with scavenging which allows you to search better, a mediocre weapon but still not awful, and scavenging is the prerequisite to the hide skill meaning you'll only need 50xp to get it, and it up survival a whole bunch. I will go more into detail on that later.
  2. Carpenter - allows you to barricade and repair buildings off the bat. Repairing is a decent (if slow paced) way to level up early on. Also useful to other humans
  3. Scientist - this starts you off with a way to revive others off the bat, which is a solid way to gain XP. This however is dependent on cooperation with others. Your going to want to join the games discord or a group for it to be most effective
  4. Doctor - you start off being able to see others health, useful if you want to be a healer. Again-most effective if cooperating with others.
  5. Soldier - very solid combat skills, so if your looking to combat start I'd suggest this. Keep in mind this will make it longer for you to buy support skills as you won't have the prerequisite skills to buy them right away
  6. Convict/firefighter/policeman - all combat skills. None do as much damage initially as the soldier. Firefighter and convict do start with weapons that don't need reloading though. Same situation as soldier on support skills.

Items you may want/eventually need

  • GPS - tells you the coordinates of the spot you are on. Great for figuring out where you are. Found in electronic stores
  • Revival serum and injectors are found in helix buildings
  • Medkits and healing items can be found in the fort infirmary, hospitals and pharmacies. Fort infirmary has the best drops.
  • Various guns and ammo can be found in the fort the fort armory, police stations, gun shops and sports stores.
  • Walkie talkie is something you need [[to talk to each other, you start with one but if you drop it, it can be found in police stations and fire departments.
  • Armor - armor has the ability to protect you for a certain amount of damage. It doesn't break but doesn't work on every single hit. Some good places to look are Ye Olde Weapon Shop and Police Stations. There's some special drop armors also from the “soldier” NPCs at the fort.
  • Generators can be found in hardware stores - powered by gas found at gas stations. Will help bring up search rates and accuracy
  • Some decent melee weapons like fire axe can be found in the fire department and sledgehammer in the hardware store There's likely more and I'll add onto this as I go but this is a lot of the more important stuff.

What skills should I prioritize buying?

At 50 XP you can buy your first skill and it will let you level up. I'm going by importance here.

  • Prioritize getting hide. If you didn't start vagrant you need to buy scavenging first (also important). This effectively takes you off the map and people have to “search” for you to find you. This ups your survival tremendously. It's not perfect. But it's much better than standing in the open. Keep on mind you can only hide inside and if nobody else is present. There are also in-game events that can prevent or limit hiding.
  • Rooftop run - allows you to run between fully repaired buildings. Useful for building bases that are extremely heavy barricaded
  • Scavenging - you basically need this to up your search rates
  • Pick one of the main skills - Healing/reviving/combat/carpentry skill - none are more important than one another by all give you a source of XP, buying a combat skill will make you hit people more or harder giving you more XP, reviving makes you useful to other people and allows you to gain XP, same with healing, and carpentry is a source of slow XP if you go about repairing the city, and you can build barricades (no XP but it protects you from threats). I don't mean to say buy all these at once. I'm saying buy one of them so you can have a source of easier XP - focus after on other stuff then go back to maxxing the other skills. You could buy multiple if you really want to.
  • Craftsmanship - allows you to craft better items handy to make some more devastating weapons

After this finish whatever combat tree/revival/healing trees you want to finish. After that stuff like vandalism, hand to hand power tools can be done if needed

Pointers - How to stay alive and stuff that's good to know

  1. Save some AP. If you've got full ap (or not) don't use it all. Save a good 10 or so AP so you can have some emergency attacks or are able to run, or to hide last minute.
  2. Do not stand around. If you have the hide skill don't just stand in buildings. If you don't well you don't have a choice but somebody, whether it be a zombie, vampire or hostile human, or NPC will kill you.
  3. Don't pick high travelled areas to hide. Hiding in the fort, helix buildings, hospitals, police stations etc. Anything with major resources is a awful idea and will get you killed. Pick clothing stores or large tiled buildings that don't have much to offer. Only be in these places if you are actively using them.
  4. Don't close the door when you hide. It just prompts somebody to check and kill you.
  5. Careful with NPCs. Some hit very hard and cause status effects. It's especially bad if it says (dangerous)
  6. Do not stay in the power relay station at all. You can control the power grid of the city here so it is a useful building.
  7. Avoid corpses unless you are reviving them. Sometimes they are zombies hidden as corpses
  8. Vampires don't do well with the lights on. If the power is on and the lights in a building are off, it's possible a vampire is hiding there.
